Citizen Survey for Eastland County Multi-jurisdictional FEMA Hazard Mitigation Plan
Eastland County, Eastland, Eastland ISD, Carbon, Cisco, Cisco ISD, Ranger and Ranger ISD held public meetings on Monday, April 10th to gather public input for a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Action Plan. Public meetings for Gorman/Gorman ISD and Rising Star/Rising Star ISD will be held on April 20th at their designated locations. Plan participants include unincorporated Eastland County, the Cities of Cisco, Carbon, Eastland, Gorman, Ranger and Rising Star, Eastland County Water Supply District and Westbound Water Supply Corporation.
Under the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires communities to develop a mitigation plan to minimize or eliminate the long term risk to human life and property from known hazards and to be eligible for certain grant funding.
The required plan includes regional meetings along with sub-jurisdictional planning teams and public meetings to develop specific mitigation strategies unique to each entity. In addition to the required meetings, the communities are conducting an on-line community survey to understand residents’ top concerns.
The survey is at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DR8G57C
Copies of the survey can be found at the Eastland County Court House or at the local city halls of the plan participants.
The communities welcome your input!
